Yesterday, there was increased activity along the western edge of the fire, where the fire had a short advancement.  Aerial resources and crews were able to quickly reestablish the fire line and hold the fire throughout the night.  Crews continued to connect dozer created fire line with hand line (with 20-person hand crews) in areas inaccessible to dozers (primarily within Harker and Mill Canyon).  In areas with established fire line, crews began to extinguish areas of heat, either by monitoring fuels consuming or by actively extinguishing areas that posed a risk to compromise adjacent fire lines.

Today, the primary focus will be for ground crews on connecting fire lines around the southern perimeter of the fire and aided by aerial resources as necessary. Structure protection teams will continue to evaluate at risk structures and provide protection (vegetation mitigation or breaks, primarily with dozer or hand lines).  Increased fire activity is expected into the afternoon and crews will continue to monitor for spotting activity over existing fire lines.  Crews will patrol for spot fires and engage them when found.  In areas where strengthened fire line has been established, crews will begin mopping up, meaning, removing burning material close to the line, which will lead to increases in containment.

Evacuations and Closures:

Level 2&3 evacuation are in effect. Lincoln County Sheriff’s office will continue to update evacuation zones and provide notice by phone within effected areas or by visiting the Lincoln County Sheriff's Facebook page.

Weather: High 93/Low 65: Warm and dry on Saturday with unstable afternoon conditions.  Winds will be steady from the west with a subtle shift to west/northwest in the late afternoon and early evening.  Light winds return for Saturday night with mild temperatures and poor recoveries.  Sunday will be hot, dry, unstable with increased winds.
